Makeup Must Haves of 2016

Tuesday, 10 January 2017

With 2016 all finished now I thought I would do a bit of a round up of the makeup items that I had been using non stop throughout the year and that will be joining me again in 2017 as my favourite products. If you want to see what my most loved makeup items were of 2016 just keep on reading...

There were so many new products that I discovered in 2016 but these are the ones that stood out the most to me and got used on the daily and have become staples for me. First up the Morphe 35F palette this eye shadow palette has won me over I just adore all the shades in it the pigmentation is fantastic and the shadows are buttery and easy to blend it really has been a big winner for me and a palette that I have not been able to put down. The Hourglass Ambiant Lighting Powder in Dim Light has been my favourite setting powder and one that I will be repurchasing, It sets my foundation and gives off a beautiful but subtle glow.

My favourite and now my holy grail foundation is the Youngblood Loose Mineral Powder Foundation this foundation has been used almost daily for me and I cannot rave about it enough! It is not something I would have normally  gone for as I am not a huge mineral loose foundation person but I am so glad that I took the dive and gave it a chance. This foundation has awesome coverage and can be built up or applied light and it looks super natural and also gives your skin a beautiful radiant glow once applied. I highly suggest checking it out, I will be continuing to repurchase this baby.

Smahbox Primer Water has also been a new find for me in 2016 and I have gone through a few bottles now, I use it on my skin before I apply my foundation and I just love how my foundation applies over the top and I find it helps with keeping my makeup on during the day and doesn't make me overly oily either. Benefit Dandelion Boxed Blush has been a go to blush for me as I loved the light effortless colour it applied on my cheeks and it is perfect for natural looking makeup. Another product I loved for natural makeup was the Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil, I have been using this on my cheek bones, above my eyebrows and on my cupids bow for a subtle everyday highlight. This powder is not chunky or glittery it is just a beautiful glowy highlighter that I don't think gets enough hype or love.

For mascara the MAC Haute & Naughty Mascara has been my favourite I generally just use the little pink wand (which I believe is the daytime/Haute one) and it coats my lashes perfectly adding a bit of length and volume to them. It is not a very dramatic mascara in my opinion but if you just want to define your lashes a bit more it is perfect! My go to brow gel has been the L'Oréal Brow Stylist Plumper Brow Gel Mascara as it gives my brows just a little bit of colour and keeps them in place all day with out them feeling crunchy.

As for lips keeping it simple is always my way and I love a nude or just a glossy lip and the Lancome Juicy Shakers become a fave of mine for the light wash of colour and the moisturising benefits. Another lip fave and has been a favourite of mine for some time now is the Dior Addict Lip Glow this is like a lip balm that gives your lips a little bit of a light pink wash of colour and keeps the hydrated, I don't know how many of these I have had but I will continue to repurchase them. Last but not least the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge has replaced my beloved beauty blender I find that this sponge works just as great as the beauty blender but at half the price it is a huge win in my eyes. Now RT have brought out a small range of different sponges for all your needs and are not badly priced I don't think I will be repurchasing the beauty blender I will be sticking with the RT Sponges.

Well that is everything I have loved in 2016, I am looking forward to finding new beauty products to fall in love with this year and maybe some new holy grail products. What were your stand out makeup must haves of 2016? Leave me a comment below or a link to yours :)

  1. That Morphe palette looks gorgeous! I swatched some Morphe shades a while back but they didn't blend out very well, so I love hearing that you've had only good experiences because I've been tossing up whether or not to get one of their palettes for about a year now...

  4. I love the Lancôme Juicy shakers. I've got 2 and they are just so lovely to wear on days when you need just a little something on your lips. They are so hydrating too. I'm totally with you on the RT sponge. They have replaced my BB too. Although I kinda feel they don't last as long but for the price I'm totally happy with that!
